Sexy Snippets-January 27th

It's time for another great Sunday and our Sexy Snippets. It's where we take seven sentences from a pubbed book or a WIP every Sunday. A bunch of us at the Nuthouse Scribblers are taking part. If you'd like to post your own, be sure to add your name to the linky list for next Sunday.

This week, I'm continuing from where I left off with Boneknapper's Trent and Ciarra in the throws of a steamy scene. That is until Ciarra thinks of her dead husband, Jack. (That'll throw a monkey wrench into it!)

Ciarra shoved at his arms, attempting to catch her breath. “Please Trent, stop now.”

Trent pulled away, his breath coming in short rasps. “Ciarra...”

“No, I need to get out of here. I can’t do this.”

I’m sorry, Jack.

Sweet Prairie Passion by Rosanne Bittner

I'm excited to have Rosanne Bittner here with me today on her Sweet Prairie Passion Book Blog Tour. If you'd like to follow along, click Media Page.

The first in a powerful series about the settling of the American West and its effect on pioneers and Native Americans alike.

Zeke Mon
roe, a half Indian scout, meets 16-year-old Abigail Trent on a wagon train west, and therein lies the beginning of a magnificent love story that covers fifty years of passion and drama set against the rugged frontier of an untamed land.

An Excerpt from Sweet Prairie Passion:

When Zeke and Abbie’s eyes met, their gazes held in the moonlight, and they both knew what had to be.  In the next moment Zeke’s lips were on hers, searching tenderly for what he needed, and giving in return.  …  Abbie looked into Zeke’s eyes, once more searching.  Then she smiled.  “Even if it can’t be forever – it’s you I want.  Only you.”  Again, Zeke’s lips took hers …

Please meet Rosanne Bittner:

I've been writing for nearly thirty years and to date have had 57 novels published, all about the American West of the 1800's and Native Americans. I write romance, but not the typical bodice-ripping adventures. My stories are deep love stories, often family sagas told as a series. It is the hero and heroine's love that holds them together through the trials and tribulations of settling America's western frontiers. I absolutely love the Rockies, the Tetons, the Sierras, and the wide-open plains, prairies and desert land west of the Mississippi. In my books, I strive to tell the truth about the settling of the West and how it affected our American Indians, as well as the gritty depth of what our brave pioneers suffered in their search for free land and a better life.

I am a member of the Nebraska and Oklahoma Historical Societies, my local southwest Michigan historical society, Women Writing the West, Mid-Michigan Romance Writers of America (treasurer) and the national RWA, and a local charity group called the Coloma Lioness Club. I help run a family business and love doing things with my three young grandsons. If you visit my web site at www.rosannebittner.com, where all my titles are listed as well as a page that lists all my many writing awards; or you can visit me on Facebook. At either site you will learn news of new books to come as well as reprints of many of my past titles soon to be published in trade paperback and as e-books! I also have an author site at Amazon.com.

This week, I'm pulling my seven from my paranormal suspense WIP, Boneknapper. Last week Dr. Trent Moore and Detective Ciarra Pacelli were getting close and cozy. But, as Ciarra is fighting her attraction for the sexy doc, she can't help but remember her deceased husband.

Their tongues intertwined. She couldn’t get enough of him as her fingers undid the buttons on his shirt, running her hands along his hairless chest. Her mind screamed to stop this craziness, but she’d been alone for too long.

Trent yanked her shirt up, finding her hardened nipple waiting for his touch. Ciarra arched to fill his hand.

Jack’s face came into view behind her closed eyelids and she cringed. Shit.

Hehe. Stay tuned for next week's continuation...

He placed her hand against his chest over his heart. “You’re beautiful, inside and out.” He pulled her to him and grazed her half opened lips.
The wetness pooling between her legs gave her a clear indication it had been a long time since she’d been near another man. Her body grew taut, and the heat continued to climb.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. What in the hell was she doing?

This week, I am taking my seven from The Swan Cove Murders. Nicholas has told Lena that Earl, her dead ex fiance, has given Nicholas permission to have a relationship with Lena.

She didn't care if Earl gave Nicky permission or not. How could she move on with her life when Earl couldn't?

Nicky had a way with her, though. Her walls were crumbling.

He caressed her cheek with the back of his hand. Tuckig a loose strand of hair behind her ear, he played with the lobe using his tongue. "We can't help how we feel."

Come back next Sunday for my next seven :)

IWSG

In case this is your first time hearing about us, our wonderful group, founded by our awesome 'Ninja' great Alex J. Cavanaugh, meets once a month to encourage and inspire one another through our writing journeys. It's real simple to join us. Go here to sign up and visit a few of the blogs listed. Leave some encouragement as your words could make a difference in someone's life. And feel free to post one of your own.

I'm still hammering at the editing for Boneknapper. This is the hard part of the writing process for me. Not so much correcting grammar, spelling, etc. But it's that should-I-put-more-here?, too-much-dialogue-here, not-enough-action-there, way-too-much-backstory parts that wear me down. I have a tendency to strive for perfection and that can and does lead me wanting to pull my hair out.

But, alas, I have great critique partners and editors who let me know what's what.

Now, just to master that inner voice that keeps telling me 'you need more here' and 'the chapter isn't long enough'.

Does editing do this to you too?
