One Year Anniversary...Bittersweet

One year ago today, Secrets of Jenkins Bridge was released. It was an exciting lead up to the release. I love this story. It's my true 'baby' as it was the first one I wrote over five years ago.

However, in the early morning hours of release day, I received the dreaded phone call...my mom had passed away nearly squashing all thoughts of the release. But honestly, it was the only thing that got me through the day. I forced myself to do the promoting and all. It was hard, don't get me wrong. I would rather have curled into a ball and not move. But, I'm my mother's daughter. That wasn't possible. I had responsibilities...to my children, to my book release, to other things also. And that's one of the many things she instilled in me. Taking it on, picking up, and keep chugging along even when all you want to do is hide.

Christmas 2007 at my mom's in CT. Left to right..mom, me, my daughter Jess, my son Aaron who is holding my son Josh, and my niece Carol (BTW she hates this picture, lol)

It's a bittersweet anniversary......

  1. I'm sorry, Donna! What a horrible thing to endure at any time. She would've been proud you pressed on that day.

  3. Completely bittersweet. But your Mom is probably so proud. You inspire me. No matter what keep moving forward. :)
