Not everyone see writing as a form of art, but it is. In its simplest definition, art is 'the conscious use of skill and creative imagination...' Well, that's exactly what we Authors do.

The painter uses a paintbrush and some paint, and with his/her skill and creativity paints the subject's world on canvas.

The sculptor uses clay (or other material) and turns it into something beautiful by molding it with his/her hands using that skill and creativity.

A musician who writes his/her own music uses their knowledge and creates a great piece.

And we authors take our knowledge and tap into our vast creative minds to give birth to our wonderful stories.

We are artists also :) Have a great Monday

  1. Hi, Donna,

I agree. Writers are artists. It takes a lot of creative energy and imagination to paint a picture with words.

    Great post!

Today I'm blogging about brainstorming to get ideas for writing. Please drop by and say "hi."

    1. Thanks for stopping by Suzanne. I'm heading over to drop by :)

  2. While I don't think I have ever met someone that thinks writers are not artists, I have met people that think that video games aren't art.

    Writers 100% are artists.

But that being said, I think video games require a lot of art too (including writers, visual effects artists, painters, drawers, sketch artists, concept developers).

It's all artistic in it's own way.

And writing is my all-time favorite art, but I definitely appreciate all the other ones :)

    1. Unfortunately, I've had a couple of people say that writers weren't artists. Turns out they were pretty narrow minded though.

Video games take a lot of creativity.

  3. Absolutely we are artists. I don't know why anyone would try to argue that we aren't :-)

  4. I actually see writing as an art. The words that tell a story are quite artistic. Not everyone can tell a story. To me, that confirms its artist value. I would rather read a book instead of looking a glob of paint called art. I mean, I love paintings but all paintings are not art to me. Creative minds create art! Great post!
